Introducing Joe, our new Chief Investment Officer
Hello everybody, I’m Joe and I’ve joined BGV this month as Chief Investment Officer. To some of you I’ll already be a familiar face, as I’ve been involved with BGV for a while as a mentor and by helping out on the accelerator programme, amongst other things.
I come from running my own consulting business, advising investors and ventures on impact investing, and before that running a social venture capital fund investing in the education, social care and financial inclusion sectors.
I’ve been a BGV fan since the start. But I think it’s easy to forget how radical it was in 2010 for the BGV team to propose that massive social impact could be achieved by funding tech startups through an accelerator. BGV is now known and admired across the impact and mainstream investment scene, having helped start some great ventures showing that the radical model works. So it’s a real privilege to be joining the team.
I’m really looking forward to working with as much of the BGV community as I can – new teams in the accelerator, alumni, mentors and the wider tech for good network. I hope you’ll feel willing to help me out as much as you help each other. And do drop me a line if you think I can help you.
We’ve got some exciting plans for BGV in 2017 and beyond, and the world of tech for good is clearly growing rapidly in profile and activity globally. So it’s going to be busy, lots of fun and hopefully even more impactful in the years to come.
