Applications for funding and our Spring 2021 programme are now open

By Dama Sathianathan

We’re excited to announce that applications for our flagship tech for good programme kicking off in Spring 2021 are now open

As the pandemic and resulting economic uncertainty continue, social and economic inequalities and climate change are as important as ever and we believe tech for good has become more relevant than ever.

Over the last six months we’ve witnessed rapid adoption of technologies to protect our health, increase our wellbeing and welfare. Consumers and investors alike are demanding more from businesses to do good, not just during the crisis, but for the long-term.

Recent data from Dealroom revealed a 280% increase in global VC investment into impact tech companies from 2015 to 2020 – and we’re certain investments into purpose-driven businesses will rapidly continue.

We strongly believe that the next generation of top performing VC backed businesses will be impact-led and we’re excited to back them.

We’re looking for entrepreneurs ready to take their tech for good ideas to the next level. Our investment thesis is that tech for good founders, with the right team and approach to building inclusive and accessible products and services, will build better businesses, with better impact and better returns.

We’re running things a little differently

You don’t need a warm intro to speak to someone at BGV. That’s always been and will always be the case. We run open drop-in sessions year-round, but are allocating 80 slots for drop-in sessions (office hours) until the application deadline in January 2021 to speak to someone in the BGV team about your business and see if we are the right fit as investors.

We’re also excited to partner with the fabulous team at NorthInvest to encourage more founders in the North to build amazing tech for good businesses. If you’re a founder based in the North, join our virtual Q&A event

Aside from our main investment themes – A Sustainable Planet, Better Society, and Healthy Lives – we’re also looking for WorkerTech ventures, continuing our partnership with the Resolution Foundation to back founders building ventures shaping a fairer future of work for everyone.
