BGV on tour: Sheffield, Oxford and Cardiff

By Jessica

Over the next two weeks we’ll be visiting Sheffield, Oxford and Cardiff to meet with people interested in applying for our Summer 2015 accelerator programme.

We’ll be joining Nominet Trust as they hold events in these cities for their Social Tech Seed fund, which opens on 17 March and offers £50,000 for ventures that can demonstrate the potential of digital technology to tackle some of the big social issues in education, employability, healthcare and the environment.

The organisations that Nominet Trust supports through this fund are generally at a later stage compared with the startups we support on our accelerator programme (in fact a number of BGV startups have gone on to get Social Tech Seed funding). For example some of our previous teams, like Andiamo and Fairphone, had little more than a wild and ambitious idea when we accepted them to join the BGV accelerator. Now they’re amongst our most successful alumni.

We’re travelling to Sheffield, Oxford and Cardiff to seek out the next BGV cohort of people with wild and ambitious ideas for using technology to tackle a social or environmental problem – ideas so ambitious that they just might change the world. If you’re thinking of applying to our accelerator then we encourage you to get in touch to talk through your idea beforehand.

Paul will be in Sheffield on 18th March at The Chimney House.
Email paul@bethnalgreenventures.com to arrange a coffee with him.

Glen will be in Oxford on 19th March at The Jam Factory.
Email glen@bethnalgreenventures.com to arrange a coffee with him.

Jess will be in Cardiff on 26th March at Indycube.

(We like coffee).

If you’d like to talk to us about your idea but can’t make these dates then get in touch with us to arrange a Skype call or a visit to our office at Makerversity in London.
