Calling all web designers!

By Lily

Bethnal Green Ventures is looking for a website refresh, this one works well enough but we reckon it could be better. So if you’re interested please drop Lily a line at lily@bethnalgreenventures.com. The brief is below.

BGV website brief

Bethnal Green Ventures is an accelerator programme for early-stage tech startups working on social and environmental problems. Every six months we invest in a cohort of ten teams and put them through a three month programme of mentoring and support in our space at Nesta in central London.

This summer, we are hosting our third cohort of start-ups working particularly on challenges in health and ageing, education and youth unemployment and sustainable communities. The programme will launch on July 1st and follow a pattern of workshops, speakers, mentoring and team support, and culminate in a ‘Demo Day’ where the teams will pitch their venture to an audience of potential investors, customers and supporters.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative web designer to refresh our site over this summer to make information about the programme more accessible to potential applicants, be a great showcase for our alumni and mentors and a space for us to share our news and ideas.

What is the website for?

  • To serve as a first stop for people looking for information about BGV
  • To explain the programme and application process
  • To showcase our investment portfolio/ alumni network
  • To showcase our mentor network
  • To share our news and ideas

Who are we looking for?

  • A web designer with experience of wordpress theming, who is willing to work with us beyond the initial rebuild, to help with updates and upgrades as and when needed.

Deliverables

  • New design: wider pages, clearer menus, more pictures, responsive
  • New functionality: calendar of events, wiki integration, office hours booking tool

Timescale

We would ideally like to get this done by the time the programme kicks off on July 1st – however our fixed deadline would be the beginning of September when our applications open for the next cohort.
