Bethnal Green Ventures Demo Day last night was the culmination of twelve weeks of caffinated conspiring, heroic feats of coding, perpetual pitching and last minute designs.

And it was a great success.

150 people to watch our six teams pitch their brand new ventures. (And nine metres of pizza was consumed!)

The night began with Paul blasting out Eye of the Tiger to get everyone’s attention and then we heard from Matt Mead, Chief investment officer at Nesta, and Charlie Leadbeater author of “We Think

DrDoctor  kicked off the pitching – delivering a very smooth promise of  “hassle free healthcare ”

Then Fairphone took the stage and invited us to join the quest for “fair electronics”

Next Gnergy said “Give us your buildings!” (so we can help you save money and energy)

Homely promised cosy and energy efficient housing housing for all. Their service will assess your energy needs, help you explore what your friends and neighbours have done to their own houses and connect you to providers to make the process as easy as possible.

Mastodon C reminded us that without Big Data analasys no one would know that the Cookie monster actually prefers Avocadoes…

And Municipality Tools are going to help all of us find our missing cats.

It was wonderful to see so many of the people who have helped us in one room but also to meet new faces and explore possibilities for “promiscuous collaboration” (Paul’s phrase) in the future.

Thanks all for coming!

Please get in touch if you would like more information about any of the teams or BGV.
