Look out America

By Paul Miller

We’d forgotten to book a meeting room when we interviewed Lily for the job. So we sat in the park in Bethnal Green and asked our questions there instead. Lily took it all in her stride and it was a pretty straightforward decision on our part – we knew immediately that this was someone who ‘got it’ and was intelligent, thoughtful, and a real catalyst for social change. We initially hired Lily to help us run events and but she’s done far more than that. Lily has played a hugely important role in finding, selecting and supporting all of the ventures we’ve worked with since and turning BGV into the vibrant community it is today.

36 teams later and Lily has decided it’s time to move on. Our loss is America’s gain as Lily is making the most of her dual citizenship and heading to the West Coast of the USA. I don’t think she’ll ever really leave so we’re giving her the job title ‘Vice President, North America’ for the time being.

The London branch of BGV will miss the incredible energy and ability to get things done that Lily brings to everything she works on. We’ll also miss her insistence that looking after kids for two weeks in a field with no running water or electricity is a ‘holiday’ and her really odd sneezes.

So on behalf of the Team BGV and all the BGV teams that you’ve helped, all the best Lily – bon voyage!
