Meet the Founder: XeroE

By Will Spurr

XeroE brings together zero-emissions couriers onto one app. They give drivers a better deal, and help to tackle London’s air-pollution.

We all want to do our bit for the environment, but often the systems we live in make these actions difficult. One way in which we are all guilty of contributing to the fumes, noise and congestion of London is through convenient online deliveries. The consequence of this; London feels more and more like we are in a locked garage with the car running. Gas-guzzling traffic is not just an annoyance, it is harming our health. Fortunately, electric vehicles can help to tackle this problem – and electric vehicle adoption is on the rise.

XeroE are developing an easy-to-use app that businesses and individuals can use to organise deliveries. You only have to photograph the object, box it up, and set a time for collection/delivery

Steve Evans initially sought to develop a platform to enhance the efficiency of job provision for courier services. The venture changed direction when, on returning to London, he “looked out of the window, and saw the lorries, vans and cars rolling past, spewing out fumes and noise, and thought “what have we done?”. With six grandchildren growing up in Central London, Steve saw an effective tool in the fight for their future in emissions-free courier services. He quickly set about stopping couriers on the road, hanging around ‘downtime spots’ for drivers, and slapping stickers on charging points to build up a network of zero-carbon couriers. Under the XeroE model, when these couriers get downtime in their schedules, XeroE can arrange jobs for them ensuring a fairer deal.

At the moment, XeroE are developing an easy-to-use app that businesses and individuals can use to organise deliveries. You only have to photograph the object, box it up, and set a time for collection/delivery. Moreover, it will be easy to eventually create frictionless gateways for online shoppers to opt for emissions-free deliveries. This model can and will be transplanted into different cities around the UK and EU over the coming months. XeroE is helping to make it one step easier to protect our planet.

XeroE will be launching their product on September 9th (coinciding with Demo Day, in case you haven’t registered yet). Check out their website here, and hear Steve talk all about XeroE in the podcast below.
