New beginnings

By Paul Miller

It’s always hard when great people leave a team. Sadly, this is true at BGV at the moment as we have three people who won’t be in the office as much, but will remain in the BGV community. Nonetheless, we’re very sad to see them go.

First up is Vicky who joined us four and half years ago to become our brilliant Head of Programmes and has done so much to shape the way that we understand the needs of the tech for good ventures we invest in and provide advice and support to them. From December, she’s leaving us and joining Facebook in their partnerships team. We’ll continue to work very closely with her on the LDN_LAB programme and she’ll also become a BGV mentor.

The other two changes are people changing their role in the team. Joe has been involved throughout BGV’s history but formally speaking only joined two years ago and has done a fantastic job of shaping our investment strategy in his role as Managing Partner. From January he’s going to change his role to become a Venture Partner, concentrating on providing support to a number of our later stage portfolio teams.

Jess joined us four years ago and in her role as Head of Partnerships has masterminded many of our amazing relationships with other organisations. From February, she’s decided to go and live in Lisbon for a little while but will remain as a Venture Partner, also providing help and support to a group of portfolio teams.

I have no doubt that that they’ll all go on to do brilliant things. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed to BGV and good luck for the future!
