Week one at BGV

By Lily

We’ve had a packed schedule for our first week at BGV.

The programme kicked off with a celebration of the UK’s computing history at Google HQ on Monday – where we were all a bit star struck by Vint Cerf talking about Martian internet and wearing google glass. The 9th floor view over london and excellent canapes were also pretty great!

During the course of the week we met all the teams one on one for office hours where we helped them work out where they were at and where they wanted to get to over the next three months – really interesting to dive into some of the detail in a huge variety of sectors.

We also got the teams networking with Mentor-Team speed dating, which was great fun – if slightly chaotic. 50 highly-caffeinated people milled around the Ada Lovelace space swapping ideas and contacts all afternoon before heading to the pub…

And on thursday we got down and dirty with post-its for Sean Miller‘s Service Blueprinting workshop.

Today has been a bit more chilled, as I type John Hammersley is giving a quick tour of the infrastructure at writeLaTeX along with cold beer – a perfect end to the week!
