Accelerating tech to achieve the Global Goals

We’ve partnered with angel investors Andy Wales and Ed Gillespie to harness the potential of the UK tech ecosystem to fund and support ambitious teams using technology to drive international development and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 17 Global Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015, set out an ambitious path to create a healthy, prosperous, and just world with a shared vision of a better future from all walks of life.

In order to deliver on this ambitious framework by 2030, we believe that technology offers tremendous opportunities to bridge economic and social gaps, link people to markets, protect our planet and its people – put simply use technology for good. Whilst multinationals and major national companies can drive change at scale, we believe it is entrepreneurs who are often defining the innovative solutions which will create new value and accelerate progress towards the SDGs.

Through this partnership we will deliver a tailored programme alongside the main BGV accelerator to help and support talented teams using technology to realise the Global Goals for international development. We believe a new generation of tech startups working on global development challenges is needed to create lasting social impact and ensure no-one is left behind.

Ventures applying for the Global Goals will receive additional travel bursary, and benefit from connections to multinational companies and potential partners.

Applications are open until 8th July 2018.
